4 Tips To Help You Survive Your First Bar Club Crawl

by Eva Morris

Going on a bar or club crawl with your friends, where you hit up as many clubs and/or bars as possible during a night, can be a lot of fun. However, if you want to remember your night, you need to have a plan to help you survive the crawl.

Tip #1: Have a Plan for the Evening

With some bar crawls, there is a list of bars that you can hit that are participating in the crawl, and it is up to you how much time you spend at each location. With other bar crawls, transportation is provided, and you only get a set amount of time at each location.

If you are going on a crawl where you determine the order and how much time you spend at each location, you need to go into the crawl with a game plan. Sit down with your friends and determine the top three or four places that you want to hit that night, and then come up with a secondary list if you make it past your top four locations. Time can get away from you; that is why you need to identify the top locations you want to hit up, so you can make sure to get to those locations during your pub crawl.

Tip #2: Keep It Casual

The point of a pub crawl is to visit as many bars and clubs as possible, try out their signature drinks, and get a general idea of the atmosphere at that location. It's kind of like speed dating. The point of a bar crawl isn't to sit down at the counter and get to know the bartender. It is to get a general feel of a wide variety of places so hopefully you can come back later to the places you enjoyed the most.

Tip #3: Have an Exit Plan

Discuss with your group how you will determine that you are ready to move onto the next location. Do you plan to leave after everyone has been able to enjoy one drink or two? Do you plan to leave after a set period of time? You want to have an idea of what needs to happen before you leave a place so that whether or not to leave each location doesn't become a big discussion that takes away from the overall experience.

Tip #4: Pace Yourself

If you are planning on hitting up six different bars, you don't want to go all-in at the first location. Instead, pace yourself. You know how much you can drink and handle; everyone has different limits based on their physical size and experience with alcohol. Before you head out, determine your limit for drinking at each location. Also, if you are planning on a long pub crawl, determine a location where everyone will plan to stay a little longer to order and eat food. You need to make sure you eat when you are spending the evening drinking.

In order to not just survive your first bar club crawl but to also have fun doing it, you need to have a plan of what your top locations are that you want to visit, how you plan on pacing yourself, and an exit strategy for determining when to move on to the next location. Remember, the point is to check out a variety of places with your friends. If you find a place you love, plan on coming back next weekend with your friends. Understanding Travel Restrictions

As soon as I started traveling worldwide for work, I realized that I needed to work hard to understand the travel restrictions for some of the places where I would be going. After I tried to board a plane with a pack of playing cards to Germany and I was turned away, I realized that there were some finicky countries out there. I worked hard to research each and every place where I would be visiting, and within a few months I felt like I had the hang of things. This blog is filled with fun information about travel and tourism so that you can enjoy your travels and your work trips.
